Parent to Child (P2C) Parent Education Program

Canopy Center’s Parent to Child (P2C) offers a parent education curriculum, utilizing the Nurturing Parenting Program. The Nurturing Parenting Program is an evidence-based program with over 40 years of validation and field research focused on the prevention and treatment of child abuse, neglect, and other forms of maltreatment. The philosophy of the program emphasizes the importance of raising children in a warm, trusting, and caring household.

Our curriculum teaches:

  • Positive parenting skills
  • Knowledge on the appropriate social, emotional, and developmental competencies of children
  • How to improve connection and the relationship between parent and child
  • Empathy building
  • And more…

The curriculum works to increase connection, communication, and empathy in the family system, which can increase cooperation between parent and child, better behavior, and overall happiness.

Our parent educators are certified in administering the Nurturing Parenting Program for Families in Supervised Visitations, as well as the Nurturing Parenting Program for Families in Substance Abuse Treatment & Recovery.

Parent to Child (P2C) Parenting Education for CHIPS Cases

For our supervised visitation clients involved in CHIPS cases, we also offer an individual format of our parenting program. Our parenting education is taught alongside supervised visitations, giving county client parents the chance to practice their parenting skills. If you are interested, please discuss this option with your social worker and have them reach out to Mollie at molliea@canopycenter.org or (608) 729-1131.
